We are Here... and Loving Every Second!
Well, we are here and loving every second of it (well, discount the minutes spent avoiding Danna, the neighborhood nudge - an overly friendly dog).
We are based in Kfar Daniel, which is 10 minutes from Modiin and 40 minutes from Yerushalyim. The house is beautiful and we are enjoying our stay. The food is plentiful and Chani Marinovsky is so attentive to every one's needs.
One funny thing: we didn't know that with a single switch, we can have hot water for showers. The hot water was running out and we didn't know why, and everyone thought the person before them used up all the water. Really, when the sun goes down the water is no longer heated and gradually cools off - and doesn't reheat until the sun gets to work the following day.
So far, we've visited the kotel the first day, right after landing. We went to a mall 0n the fast day and today - we had a jam-packed day with our tour guide. We went to the Promenade overlooking the whole city of Jerusalem, followed by Shacharis in Kever Rochel. We went to Hirodian, a palace/burial site of Herod, and also a Bar Kochba revolt base. After that, we went to the Gush Etzion to see a very emotional film on the destruction of those settlements and their subsequent rebuilding after 1967. We went to the Lone Tree, the symbol of these settlements. We then went to Chevron, where we davened Mincha at Maaras Hamachpela and learned about Chevron's rich Jewish and Chabad Chassidic history. We finished up with a visit to Reb. Menucha Rochel's kever.
Everyone now has cell phones - so feel free to call me - Sarah Alevsky at 011 972 50 316 3789 for everyone's numbers. Tomorrow is another busy day full of action, so we will post again.
Every day starts off with Davening and Chitas, followed by a Shiur. We say Mincha in the afternoon and watch a Rebbe video in the evening before "bed".
We will be posting pictures tonight so keep looking every day for more updates from the Holy Land!
Email is still not accessible from the house - so please just call your children/friends for now.
